Webinar on “How shall Hong Kong Lawyers Participate in the Development of the Greater Bay Area with Mediation and Arbitration Professions?"
The hybrid webinar/seminar on How shall Hong Kong Lawyers Participate in the Development of the Greater Bay Area with Mediation and Arbitration Professions, jointly organised by Hong Kong Mediation Centre (HKMC), Mainland – Hong Kong Joint Mediation Centre (MHJMC) and International Dispute Resolution & Risk Management Institute (IDRRMI), was successfully held at Justice Place, Central and via Zoom on 16 August 2021. With over 100 participants joining the event both physically and virtually, the event earned a lot of positive feedback.
Our honourable speaker, Mr. Ronald Sum, a renowned Lawyer, Mediator, and Arbitrator, shared his successful experiences of handling disputes involving Hong Kong and the Mainland throughout the years. With the rising market demand, he encouraged Hong Kong Lawyers to participate actively in the businesses in the GBA, providing services with their professional knowledge. Having witnessed the huge differences in culture and mechanism of dispute resolution between Hong Kong and the Mainland, he emphasised that positivity and open-mindedness are the keys to grasp precious opportunities. During the discussion with Dr. Francis Law, the event moderator, it was suggested that professional training and structural collaborations between legal professionals, mediators, arbitrators, advocates, and case managers in Hong Kong and other cities in the GBA would enhance the extensiveness of the professional legal services provided by Hong Kong Lawyers to the businesses in the GBA.
